How do you operate Safety Chucks?
|
To load the Safety Chucks for taking up or paying off operations, rotate the round locking collar or handwheel to zero degrees. Tilt back the handwheel exposing the square pocket. Lower the roll or mandrel square journal into the square pocket of the Safety Chucks. |
Now that the roll is seated in the SUNRISE Safety Chuck you may close the handwheels by hand prior to startup. If the roll should rotate before the handwheels are closed, the handwheels will automatically start to close at 5 degrees either side of the zero. They will be closed at 15 degrees either side of the zero. This is the safety feature of the Safety Chucks.
Begin your operation. Torque is transmitted through the SUNRISE Safety Chucks to your roll or mandrel. Now you can control the speed of your take up, or you can control how much tension you want for your payoff.
At the end of the operation rotate the handwheels to zero degrees, tilt the handwheels back, and remove the roll or mandrel. |
