After discussing the plan of investment, we decided to invest heavily in the service training. We built an after-sales service department. This department tracks and documents any issues and work to address them for customers. We regularly arrange and conduct customer service seminars, and organize training sessions that target specific issues, such as how to interact with customers through the phone or via the E-mail.
The basic layout of the powder clutch is shown in Figure 1. The primary driver (input side) and the driven element (output side) are located on aligned cylinders and separated by a gap filled with magnetic powder. The two structures are firmly supported by bearings and can turn dependently.
The powder space is filled with highly magnetized iron powder, with magnetic coils on the outer rim which achieve fast magnetization.
When the primary driver turns under non-conditions, centrifugal force pushes the magnetic power onto the work surface of the primary driver so that the driver and driven components can’t make contact, and friction between the powder and the driver allow transmission of torque. This powder clutch is also a friction clutch which uses magnetic powder as an interface. In addition, if the output side of the unit is fixed in place it can also act as a powder brake.

The magnetic powder brakes and clutches combines the resilience of a fluid clutch with the locked-in stability of a friction clutch. Torque is transmitted by a specially alloyed dry ferromagnetic powder.
The clutchs can sustain continuous slip (within their empirically established heat ratings)at a precise and stable torque value, which is determined by excitation level.
Slip between input and output level is not necessary in order to transmit torque, and provided load torque does not exceed the torque for which a unit excited to transmit locked-in synchronous operation will take place. Conversely, if load torque exceeds the energised torque level, slip will occur in an absolutely smooth manner at the predetermined torque value.
For all practical purpose, static and dynamic coefficients of friction are sensibly equel also output torque is indepentent of speed, or slip speed.
Powder performance is unaffected by temperature rise at the working surface, and clutchs will, at all times, have the characteristics that transmitted torque is directly proportional to current. It should be noted that use of dry powder rather than fluid- suspended powder medium promotes consistency and accuracy of torque control.

The temperature detector and the alarm should be installed to prevent high temperature which can affect the service life of the magnetic powder.(the highest temperature is 80 degree).

2. Concerning the service life
The life of the magnetic powder clutch and brake rely on the life of the magnetic powder. Generally speaking, its service life is 4500-7500 hours in the state of non-overloaded; but its service life can extend several times in some cases, such as: the working torque of the magnetic powder clutch/brake, relative slip rotational speed and slip power can be reduced to 50%-70% of the rated value. This is to say, the margin can be enlarged as soon as possible when designing.#
